Is “Carbon” the Same as Carbon Fiber?

“Carbon” can be seen as a more purified form of carbon fiber. In carbon-based materials, the carbon fiber content is generally above 90%, while in carbon fiber itself, the carbon content exceeds 95%. Carbon fiber is commonly used as a reinforcing material, combined with corrosion-resistant substances to manufacture advanced composite materials. Carbon (or carbon-based materials) also finds major applications in ultra-high-power electric arc furnaces for steelmaking, as well as in the electrochemical industry for the production of high-resistance membranes.
